Calvin (Cal) Orville Ward

 

Cal passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at CVPH with his loving family by his side. He was the son of Almon and Ruth Ward. He had one brother, Almon Ward Jr. and a sister, Ruth Amy Bene. He worked for AuSable Valley Telephone and retired from Twinstate Technologies after 32 years of service. He and the love of his life, Rocky, moved to Florida for several years before returning to Jay to be with his children and grandchildren.

In his spare time, Cal loved working in his shop building furniture, fishing, gardening, playing bingo, playing poker with his brother-in-law Pete, and sisters-in-law and attending concerts and sporting events to watch his grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to family friend Logan VonDell play the drums.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roxanna (Pelkey) Ward, as well as three children: Lisa Lincoln and her husband Robbie, Karyn Ward and her companion Brad, Chris Ward and his wife Michelle and six grandchildren: Brooke Sorell (Chris), Karly Garren (Cody), Taylor Lincoln, Camryn Lincoln, Tyler Mary, Matthew Johnson and two great granddaughters, Lauryn and Shay, as well as several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Almon and his parents.

Donations in his name can be made to the AuSable Forks Ambulance Service or the Upper Jay Volunteer Fire Department.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday June 11, 2017 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM with a funeral at the Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home at 2:00 PM
